Ford Focus RS WRC - Mikko Hirvonen - Rally Finland

Happy 40th birthday Mikko! Here's a skin from a rally that begun also on this day, 12 years ago. Or something. I'm too tired to check it properly. With former teammate Marcus Grönholm out of the picture as he retired at the end of 2007, Hirvonen was looking like one of the favorites to take his first home win. Having won two rallies already in 2008. Including the previous rally, which was held in Turkey. Despite giving his best efforts to it, he was beaten by this French chap you guys might have heard of. Sebastien Loeb or something like that. Apparently he was quite a good driver. The duo battled head to head throughout the rally. The biggest the gap ever was was 18,2 seconds. In the end it was 9 seconds in Loeb's advantage. Mikko stated at the finish of the rally:  "It was a fantastic fight, Sebastian was just faster, it's rally, the result is excellent, the most important thing is that I drove as best I could." (Quote from eWRC) That's something...

Ford Focus RS WRC - Jari-Matti Latvala - Rally Sweden 2008

This rally win was Latvala's first in the WRC and it made him the youngest WRC event winner ever. Latvala's win in Sweden made him the youngest WRC event winner ever. And to this day he still is the youngest WRC event winner. When he won here in Sweden he broke his idol's Henri Toivonen's previous record of being the youngest WRC event winner. Third on this list is a certain Mr. Alen too. This rally was Latvala's pretty much from the get go. Latvala set the pace early on stringing six back to back fastest times on Friday. That was enough for him and then for the last two days he just controlled the pace to keep the gap to the cars behind comfortable. A very confident win by the young Finn. Most of us won't become the youngest ever WRC event winner. I'm waay too old for that too already. But what we can do is to channel our inner Latvalas to be blitzing fast in snowy conditions. Hope you guys enjoy! DOWNLOAD (Download updated 28.7.2020 at 15:13...

Ford Focus RS WRC - Roman Kresta - Rally Australia 2005

This was originally supposed to be the first non-Finn skin here on this site. I promised my friend Voittanen to make this skin as a thank you for him, as he found me one tricky logo in the rear wing for the previously released Gardemeister skin. The logo in question is the L. M. Gianetti one. I know you guys would've lost your sleep over it if I did not tell that. Right, judging from the results it was an "allright" rally for Roman, nothing crazy spectacular results wise. He finished 6th in the rally, as some of the bigger names (Grönholm, Loeb & Solberg) dropped out of the rally. Voittanen was able to tell me, that the Ford boys were impressed with the new Focus in the rally, but they were not allowed to have full power early on in the rally, to maximise the testing kilometers for the car. Understandably. Apparently later in the rally they got to put the engines in to full power mode. The fact that Roman set very good times on the last few stages do make t...

Ford Focus RS WRC - Toni Gardemeister - Rally Australia 2005

In a way one-off livery. In a way absolutely not. Well, this is the 2005 Ford team livery from Gardemeister's car. But the car is from 2006? Well as 2005 championships were settled already before Australia and with new regulations coming for 2006, Ford decided to bring out it's 2006 weapon for a test on the 2005 season finale. Although it wasn't initially designed for this very car, I like the livery very much. Hence why I made it. Toni's rally was not the greatest. Well to be honest the car built for new (read: slower) specs played it's part too. But Toni seemed to be struggling somewhat as well. He set a few competitive stage times here and there but he wasn't able to consistently challenge for the stage wins. With other drivers suffering from various misfortunes, Toni was able to climb all the way to fifth, before his engine overheated on the penultimate stage and he had to retire from the rally. Oh and yes, this was the only rally, where this car was s...
