Long time no see mates! But now I'm back with a proper old school livery!
This is Hannu Mikkola's livery from the 1982 Arnold Clark Scottish Rally. The rally where he did an amazing comeback drive. Although it was aided quite well by the fact that Mikkola was the only 4WD car in the rally. Regardless of the drive type, no rally car drives itself.
Mikkola's rally begun with a disaster. On the first stage he had a steering failure early on on the stage. Him and co-driver Arne Hertz tried to repair the car on the spot without succeeding. Eventually Mikkola decided to reverse (yes, reverse.) the car to the finish. It took him 8 and a half minutes to get to the end of the stage and he was in last place after the first special stage.
In the end (partly thanks to other top level drivers retiring), Mikkola ended up winning the rally by over 10 minutes ahead of the second placed Jimmy McRae.
