Opel Ascona 400 - Henri Toivonen - Mintex Rally 1982

First skin for the Ascona 400 by me! This one was supposed to be done way later, but aesthetic_sofa (Lorenzo) updated the Ascona 400 template to be quite sweet, so I got hyped and made this skin as a result. The UV mapping in this car is quite a nightmare so probably will not make too many Ascona 400 skins. Also big thanks to Voittanen for finding me the font for the name sticker, and to Owen Morgan for helping find accurate text for the small number stickers! The livery is from 1982 Mintex Rally and the car was driven by Henri Toivonen, one of my favorite drivers. It was a long and a hard rally. Mintex Rally was driven late February and it was wet and muddy. Hannu Mikkola left everyone in his dust thanks to the mighty Audi Quattro, but behind him there was a proper battle between Ari Vatanen and Henri Toivonen for the 2nd place of the rally. The battle was decided on the last few tarmac stages, when Ari did not have tarmac tires there and Henri was able to overtake him there. I hope y...

Lancia Delta HF 4WD - Markku Alen - Rally Finland 1987

Final release of those "advent calendar skins" that I've had laying around. This would have been day 1 release if the advent calendar thing would have come to life. Definitely one of my favorite drivers, one of my favorite cars, one of my favorite rallies and one of my favorite colour schemes. What more could you ask for? The rally itself was victorious for Markku. He took the fifth of his six Rally Finland victories here. Piloting the Delta HF 4WD to a dominant victory. Markku started the rally with his usual style. Maximum attack from the start. He won first five stages and by the time of leg 1 ended, Markku was leading already by 1 minute and 16 seconds ahead of teammate Juha Kankkunen.  On leg 2 Markku continued from where he left off, opening the leg with three back to back fastest times. By the end of leg 2 Markku's lead had increased to an over four minute gap ahead of Ari Vatanen who was driving a Sierra Cosworth. Legs three and four Alen could already take i...

Porsche 911 SC RS - Henri Toivonen - Ypres 24 Hours Rally 1984

35 years ago, the rallying world got one of it's most tragic news. Henri Toivonen and Sergio Cresto had passed away in a horrible accident during Tour de Corse.  It was the end of a very promising career in rallying and I'm quite certain that it was a future world champion taken from us too soon. To remember this grim day I've chosen to release a livery from one of Henri's finest performances. You know, to enjoy and cherish the nice things. Henri won the rally with over a 5 minute gap to the second placed Belgian Patrick Snijers. Snijers did end up winning the 1984 Belgian Rally Championship so it's not like he's one slow chap either. Henri did drive amazingly throughout the rally to take the win. He didn't set the world on fire with outright pace over the full length of the rally, but Henri did take the lead of the rally on SS37 out of 51 and kept his lead until the end.  Sadly though I can't write too much about the rally as there are no stage results ...

Citroen C2 R2 Max - Jari Huttunen - SM Vaakuna Ralli 2015

This time it's another skin with another of my current favorite drivers, Jari Huttunen. This livery was used by Huttunen with slight changes throughout his campaign in the 2015 Finnish Rally Championship. And what a campaign that was. Huttunen ended up winning the title in the SM 3 class, which was contested in R2 machinery. In this very rally, that was driven in Mikkeli, Huttunen was somewhat dominant. Huttunen grabbed the lead of the rally on the very first stage and didn't give it up since. Finishing first 37 seconds ahead of second placed driver Joonas Tokee. This was Huttunen's first win in the season. Hope you guys manage to be equally dominant with this livery, enjoy! DOWNLOAD Here's some more pictures of the skin in action. Pictures by me.

Citroen DS3 R3-MAX - Jukka Korhonen - Pirelli International Rally 2013

Time to release another skin from the depths of my advent calendar list!  This time it's the latest Finnish driver to win the British Rally Championship. Jukka Korhonen won the British Rally Championship in 2013 with a solid run. Winning two rallies, finishing second in three rallies and finishing third in one rally. No retirements on his campaign. Impressive as hell.  That's why I thought it was important to have his livery as a skin in RBR. In this very rally, the season opener, Jukka grabbed the lead on SS1 and increased his lead by taking three more fastest stage times on the first leg. On the other two stages he didn't win, he was second on both of those. Then on the second leg he continued the rally with a good rhythm by getting three third fastest stage times and one fifth fastest stage time. That was enough for Jukka to win the rally by 42 seconds ahead of Alastair Fisher and Tom Cave.  On the next rally, Jim Clark International Rally, Jukka claimed his second and...

Mitsubishi Lancer Evo II - Tommi Mäkinen - Rallye Sanremo 1994

The beginning of a legendary relationship. Tommi Mäkinen & Mitsubishi.  The pair conquered the World Rally Championship four times in a row between 1996 and 1999. Tommi winning four back to back driver's titles. Mitsubishi won the manufacturer's title in 1998. And this was the first time Tommi and Mitsubishi were united in a World Rally Championship event in the top class. Although this rally wasn't as successful as the pair's later adventures would be, I thought it would still be neat to make this livery for RBR to celebrate the very beginning of the relationship in the top class. Tommi started the rally very promisingly, setting the third fastest time on the opening stage. After that though, his position dropped in the rally, and on the fifth stage he retired with suspension issues from tenth place in the rally.  This Evo II version of the Mitsubishi gets the unwanted honor of being the only group A Lancer Evo that Tommi drove, but didn't win a rally with. Alt...

Ford Escort Mk II - Jari-Matti Latvala - Lahti Historic Rally 2010

Happy birthday to Jari-Matti Latvala! Here's one of those (already cancelled) advent calendar skins that I've still got lying around waiting for their releases. Well now that it's Jari-Matti's birthday I thought it is appropriate to share the skin today. This rally was a raw presentation of Latvala's skill compared to your regular driver. Latvala won all the proper stages in that rally (there were also two spectator stages which were both 450 meters long). Latvala showed that he's definitely one of the best drivers in rallying at the time. Latvala won the rally by two minutes ahead of the next car, which was an Opel Ascona 400. Pretty much a second per kilometer faster than the 2nd placed driver. Despite eventually not winning the world title, Latvala is a great driver in my books and no one can change my mind. Initially I made a livery based on this for Christer for the Finnish series and after that it was easy to make this "proper" skin after that. ...
